Improved Working Practices

Many of the working practices introduced and developed during WIMRC’s existence, including a focus on multi-disciplinary research, six-monthly internal peer review of projects’ progress and regular dissemination of outputs to a range of stakeholders are now embedded in WMG’s approach to working with academics and industrial partners and as such the foundations of WIMRC’s success will live on within WMG.

 

The Power of Manufacturing-Centric Research

The successful research outcomes delivered across WIMRC’s portfolio of projects has demonstrated the power of pulling together disparate academic disciplines from both within WMG and from other academic departments under “manufacturing-centric coordination” to produce truly innovate outcomes.  WIMRC has proved the virtues of applying several different perspectives to research problems and the outcomes have been more creative and innovative in doing so.

 

World Class Groups

WIMRC funding over the past 10 years has helped to support fledgling research areas, enable research teams to gain critical mass and bring together skills and knowledge from across several departments to achieve highly effective multi-disciplinary research.  Groups that have prospered and grown with the help of WIMRC funding include:
